Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 31.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Doomben, Morphettville and Belmont.
ROSEHILL: RACE 4 @ 1:30 PM
MONARCHS BRAE (9) well supported late in betting when a disappointing tenth over the 1900m here on August 17. Go on his two runs prior and he should be able to hold a forward position today. ALL IN THE MIND (5) won two of his last three starts and deserves his shot in this tougher grade. Bounced back to form when he swooped late to score a nose victory over 1600m at Warwick Farm on August 21. Well drawn and can take a hand in the finish. The chances don't end there. I AM THE EMPIRE (12) returns from a 31-day let-up and looks up to this tougher assignment. Went under narrowly with the 58kg when second over 2200m at Warwick Farm on July 31. Maps well and don't underestimate.

CAULFIELD: RACE 6 @ 2:55 PM
GROWING EMPIRE (1) resumes and looks a very exciting prospect. He beat Bittercreek easily at Moonee Valley two back who then won a Group 2 in Brisbane, before heading to Adelaide and bolting in with the G3 Breeders Stakes in good time. Looks every bit a Coolmore horse and can take this out on the way. STAY FOCUSED (3) resumes. He tried hard in the Blue Diamond before a spell and certainly has the ability. He maps for a soft trail. ASTAPOR (4) won well at Eagle Farm two back before a commendable effort against a potential star in Gatsby's. That form should hold up well. WONDER BOY (6) is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Growing Empire.
DOOMBEN: RACE 3 @ 1:03 PM
MOULIN MISS (6) has come back in fine fashion stringing two wins together on the bounce this campaign and is racing with a lot of confidence. Jones sticks in the saddle and the current form is strong enough to continue the picket fence. ODINSON (1) had been plying his trade in Group 3 and Listed company when last in work and should find this assignment much more to his liking. Tuned up for this with a recent Wyong trial and will give a sight from the inside marble. ESTRONDO (4) resumes here but showed enough in his first preparation to warrant consideration in a race like this. Can run a race while fresh. The penny has dropped for DEFIANT BOOM (2) this time in with consecutive victories and cannot be ignored. KAHLISEE (5) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Moulin Miss to make it three on the trot.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 6 @ 3:42 PM
MORRYL MORAL (3) hasn't been beaten far in all three runs back. Ran a good time at Sandown-Lakeside last start when beating home Fretta by 1.9L, who he would have met a kilo better had it not been for Fretta's scratching. Booking of a senior hoop in Pannell is a good push. Ready and now particularly well suited in this contest after the scratchings of two anticipated main rivals. BONNIE GANGSTER (4) and FLYWAY (9) are some other locals that have claims on best form who come further into calculations after scratchings changed the complexion of the race. Don't overlook.
SELECTIONS: Morryl Moral is ready to win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 2 @ 14:44 PM
Good race for the 3YO's. CLEANEMUP (5) has taken all before her, winning comfortably by 1.6L over this track and trip 35 days ago. She has the pace to lead this field and suspect we haven't seen the bottom of her just yet. Expected her to stay undefeated with further improvement expected. BLUE ROCKET (4) contested the strong 2YO features last campaign, not beaten far in the Karrakatta behind the Everest-bound Bustling. She looks to have returned in sharp order judging by her recent trial and it wouldn't surprise to see her resume on a winning note. DESERT WHISPER (7) was too strong down the straight at Pinjarra and should be in this race for a long way. MADHI GIRL (3) will be fitter for two quiet trials and is right in the mix again.
SELECTIONS: Cleanemup can make it three-from-three.
