Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 22nd July 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 22.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Wagga, Gunnedah, Blackall, and Seymour.

WAGGA: RACE 3 @ 1:45 PM

SEMPER FORTIS (4) racing in career best form and a total forgive after failing to handle the heavy (9) going when ninth over 2130m at Canterbury in BM72 class on July 10. Go on his two earlier runs when returning good figures in town and on the provincial circuit. Expected to bounce back to form. ALCHIAN (1) has the four wins from 20 starts and saves his best for this distance range. Sat on the speed with the 61.5kg when a nose winner over 2100m at Ballarat Synthetic on July 14. Gets weight relief with the 3kg claim and can continue on his winning ways. KNIGHTS ARMOUR (2) back in grade and ploughed through the heavy (9) conditions when a slick 6 len winner over 2145m at Goulburn on July 5. Takes on stiffer opposition here but racing too well to dismiss. FIFI BLUE (6) put the writing on the wall last time over 2100m at Narrandera when second and beaten half a length. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Semper Fortis to win.

GUNNEDAH: RACE 7 @ 4:35 PM

UP THE COUNTRY (4) switched stables recently and has had two runs this prep in the new yard, both near misses in similar races to this. Raced closer to the speed last start and tried hard when beaten 0.6 lengths over 1200m at Tamworth. Draws a good gate for a change and is ready to win. Two-year-old NOMORENIGHTSHIFT (8) started in the red and gave backers heart palpitations before flying home to score on debut over 1100m at Dubbo recently. Looks above average so don't take him lightly. MOON ZONE (9) ran a better race at Dubbo last start when third-up from a spell. Beautifully in after the claim and rock hard fit so she is a definite contender. ALERTADO (5) is a bit hit-and-miss but handy on his day. EVASIVE NATURE (3) is better than recent form suggests so give him another chance.
SELECTIONS: Up The Country is ready to win.

BLACKALL: RACE 1 @ 12:57 PM

DANGEREUSE (4) looked to be all over the winner at Barcaldine last time out until being bombed in the last stride and running second by a short-head. He will be rock hard fit for this and with 100 metres less to travel this time, he can go one better. MADAM ROCK (6) had an excuse at Roma last time out as the kickback on that track can upset horses at times. She can avoid all that with a good start from the pole position and is expected to finish closer this time. GUTHO (1) has been mixing his form on the picnic circuit and can make full use of his handy gate early on here. Each way value with a peak effort. NYTHE (3) is heading the right way with his form and as long as he does not get too far back in the running, he can figure in the finish. Include in all combinations in a wide open contest.
SELECTIONS: Dangereuse to win.

SEYMOUR: RACE 6 @ 2:30 PM

ZUETORO (4) is a lightly raced gelding with just two starts to his name. A winner on debut at Swan Hill, he was solid when fourth at Pakenham Synthetic last time in a Bm64 and now drops slightly in grade. He's in a good table and has plenty of scope to improve. JUICE BOX (3) doesn't win out of turn but did run a good race last start when third at Sale in a good race behind Mansiere. That form reads well and a repeat of it has her right in the finish here. ATAEGINA (9) resumes. She's relatively lightly raced and was last seen running second in a handy Bm64 at Pakenham which reads well for this. Should be running on strongly. SUZIDO (8) stuck on okay here last time in a similar race and should be thereabouts. GRAEWAZI (2) next best.
SELECTIONS: Zuetoro to win.
