Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Canterbury,Sandown, Ipswich, Murray Bridge and Belmont.

CANTERBURY: RACE 2 @ 1:25 PM

TRUNK (5) returned from a five-month spell last start and did a good job to hold onto third over this distance at Warwick Farm after leading for home. Should take it up again from the inside draw and will take a ton of catching around this tight circuit. MARACAIBO SUN (1) resumed in 1200m maiden here three weeks ago and managed to get up for second after overcoming an awkward start and racing just behind the leading pair. Significant that McDonald takes over the reins. Could be the big improver. CASH AND CARDS (6) went under in a head-bobber on debut recently over this distance at Newcastle. Faces a deeper field this time but he is sure to have plenty of improvement in the locker. THE GREY (7) has been beaten under a length at the provincials in his two runs to date. Should appreciate getting to six furlongs for the first time. PINK SHALALA (2) has disappointed favourite backers in two appearances this time in work. One for the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Backing Trunk.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 6 @ 3:20 PM

RACKEMANN (7) is a progressive type who has won his past two outings, scoring narrowly at Ballarat before an impressive victory at Sale. Up in grade here but he's always promised to have this level of ability and he can measure up well. ANGRY SKIES (1) is racing consistently. He stepped out to 1700m last time and was okay but this is his best trip with 2 wins from 3 starts. Back in grade, he should go close. ELECTRIC IMPULSE (10) was just fair last time in the Leilani Final at Flemington but her form prior reads well against some handy mares and this suits. COMMANDER HARRY (2) was sound first-up and will strip fitter, as will MAGARTEN (6) who is right in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Rackemann to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 9 @ 4:38 PM

Gollan-trained SUNSET SOIREE (5) deserved the 85 win at Eagle Farm and she's raced in much stronger since. Ran her best figure in Stakes grade last time and winning rider Maloney is reunited. Drops back to the mile but this is winnable with average luck in the run. THESECONDATPORTSEA (15) resumes at a mile and that won't prove an issue. She draws well with a 3kg claim and is proven fresh. She's a capable galloper. REDWOOD SHADOW (10) improved placing at the Sunshine Coast and Orman is a key jockey switch. Stepping back up to the mile suits and he's a chance. SPRAY GUN (17) finds harder but tumbles in weight and that gives him a hope.
SELECTIONS: Backing Sunset Soiree.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 2 @ 12:10 PM

GRINT (5) has found the maiden win elusive but it certainly hasn't been without trying. Strips rock-hard fit and is perfectly placed in this line-up. Ready to get off the mark. MINE ALL MINE (10) is another that has shown good ability without landing the winning blow. Has enough early dash to offset the wide alley and is expected to take plenty of reeling in. PRODIGAL LAD (11) return for the Francis & Kent partnership. Showed some positive signs in his debut prep and with improvement anticipated he's among the key chances. The booking of Toeroek is a big push for his chances. FAST BUBBLES (3) is another that returns. Came close to shedding the maiden tag in both runs last time in. Drawn sticky but rates among the leading chances. RUSCHEYNE (13) progressed nicely second-up when chasing gamely into the frame at Balaklava. Should be nearing his peak third-up and needs to be included.
SELECTIONS: Grint ready to hit the winner's board.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 3:35 PM

TOROPA (2) looks a smart horse on the rise3 after an impressive victory first-up, pulling away to win by 2.3L. Out to 1200m is no issue and she maps for a lovely run for Brad Parnham. Looks as though she's better than this grade and she can keep her unbeaten streak alive. AMARLIE MISS (6) will put up a good challenge though after a 0.1L defeat at Bunbury 20 days ago. She draws a better gate this time around and was a winner at this track and trip two starts ago. She has some class about her also and appears the main danger. VILLAGE GIRL (4) drops back in trip today following a 2.6L defeat last time out and gets Pike in the saddle for today's assignment. He draws the best gate she's seen in some time and a return to her best form would see her in the thick of the finish. JAZ SESSION (10) is better than she showed last time out and getting out in trip can see her return to form. FOREVER CLASSIC (1) comes through a good trial and won't be far away. SELECTIONS: Keen on Toropa to remain undefeated.
