Consistent sprinter Conservatorium added another Group win to his collection claiming the AJ Scahill Stakes at Ascot.
The SA-trained Conservatorium was wide early but soon moved up to race outside the leader, following a moderate tempo (first 800m 49.58).
He challenged strongly rounding the home turn, took the lead shortly after turning for home and then fought back very well for a length win at the post. It was a nice effort.
Luke’s Luck enjoyed a good trip third on the rails. He challenged strongly at the 200m, looked a real threat, but he found the winner too good and battled on for a sound length second.
The favourite, Power Princess ($2.75) went back from her outside barrier (9) and settled last in the nine-horse field. She was conceding the leader about eight lengths approaching the home turn, then went wide passing the 300m and ran on particularly well for third, beaten just over a length.
Dominating ran on quite well from sixth at the turn to take fourth, beaten three and a half lengths.
