Two to follow into 2025 from New Year’s Day racing at Flemington and Ascot.
Flemington Race 2 – Dream All Day
This mare is fairly high profile being a full sister to Atishu and looks to have the pieces to win some good races. She was a very strong winner sitting back off a fast pace first up before being unsuited staying at 1400m second up. Here, Blake Shinn took luck out of the equation and sent her forward to lead, and probably still went too slow in front. She was there to be beaten but reeled off the second-fastest last 200m of the meeting. She'll relish 2000m and sterner tests, and having the ability to go forward will see her win plenty more.
Ascot Race 1 – Shmoov Moova
Another very promising win from this lightly raced three-year-old who ran to 90 on the RAS scale first up in a 3.2 length win, again impressive this time in an open race, tracking up around the bend and coming clear late. He looks like he wants a bit further now and the tempo of 1100m or 1200m will suit. He's a Group winner in waiting and if he keeps going the right way, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting a slot in The Quokka in a few months' time.
