Love Rocks produced another scintillating performance at Doomben to grab a hat-trick of wins.
The Toowoomba-trained four-year-old Love Rocks continues to race in top form, making it three in a row, winning here in smart time stepping up to stakes class.
He began brilliantly and went straight to the lead but was soon pressured in front, establishing a hot tempo. But he regained a clear lead rounding the home turn, dashed clear at the 300m and went to the line well to score comfortably by a length. It was an impressive effort and he is likely to progress to even better things.
Benny’s Buttons had a good run, sixth on the rails most of the way to the turn. He switched across heels passing the 200m, where he was giving the leader about five lengths. He then ran on nicely for a good second.
Doubtfilly raced midfield on the rails, got through along the rails on straightening, switched out at the 200m and finished well to get up in time for third.
The favourite Lucky Hussler ($4.75) had a good trip, fifth on the rails and improved along the rails after turning for home, going to second at the 200m. He then held on for fourth, beaten just over three lengths, after appearing to have every chance.
