The resuming Terravista capped a big day for Joseph Pride in winning the Southern Cross Stakes at Randwick.

A fast run race with the Gai Waterhouse trained Under The Sun running along in front and stringing the field out over plenty of ground.

The winner Terravista settled down well in fourth position about five lengths off the leader. He stuck closer to the inside on cornering and came with an impressive sprint between runners hitting the front and the 250m and then having enough in reserve to fend off the late challenge of Albrecht on his outside.

He is a lightly raced progressive gelding who looks set for a very big campaign after this good first up win in a smart time.

Albrecht raced on the outside of the winner in the run in fifth position. He cornered on the outside of the field and made steady ground on the outside to be closest at the finish. It was a sound first up run for this under-rated horse.

My Destiny chased the strong early pace in third position. He battled on gamely in the straight but could not match the winners turn of foot.

That’s A Good Idea did a lot of work early and battled on fairly well for fourth. Dances On Stars was well out of his ground settling down second last. He was warming up late on and his run should be overlooked.

Toydini (8th) was a detached last in the run. He was working home well under his big weight (60.5kg) without ever being asked a serious question. He will be improved by the run.
