Scissor Kick stepped up in class here at only his third start and put up a smart performance to win.

He settled in sixth place, one off the rails. Tye Angland angled for a run in the centre on straightening, getting through passing the 300m.

He challenged strongly at the 100m and then finished well to score in good style by three quarters of a length.

Better Land was trapped wide without cover from the outside barrier (8). He moved up (still three wide) rounding the home turn, looked beaten at the 200m but rallied again in the closing stages for a good second.

It was only his second race start and his first since April. He looks destined for a good future.

Top weight (59kg) Inkling was smartly away and travelled well outside the leader, Nayeli.

He went to the front at the 300m and then battled gamely for a good third.

The favourite, Sarajevo, was a little slow to move and settled second last in the eight-horse field.

He looked for a run in the centre on turning for home, got to fourth at the 100m and fought on nicely to hold that position to the post, being beaten a length and a quarter.

He looked a bit big in condition and should continue to improve, today being his first run since April.

Hero I Am came from the tail of the field and fought on quite well along the rails for (1.3 lengths) fifth.

Echo Prince was handy on the rails and held on nicely in this quality field for a sound (1.5 lengths) sixth while Nayeli led to the 300m but disappointed, finishing (4 lengths) seventh.

Bold Circle raced too keenly in blinkers for the first time and after being trapped wide tired for (5.5 lengths) last. His run probably should be overlooked.
