Exciting three-year-old Jimmy Rea headlined a number of strong performances over the weekend, when proving far too good for his rivals in the final event on Friday night.

Successful in bringing up his third straight victory, Jimmy Rea again raised the bar, culminating with a new career peak.

Improving six pounds on his previous start, the son of Thewayyouare proved most impressive when easily disposing of his rivals in the 1200m event.

Ridden by Manoel Nunes, Jimmy Rea was caught wide early, before pressing on slotting in just beyond midfield.

Travelling strongly entering the straight, Jimmy Rea displayed a devastating turn of foot, to quickly sweep up to his rivals — putting them away in a few strides.

Drawing away to score by two lengths, Jimmy Rea averaged 10.91 second 200m sections for his last 800m, rivalling some of Singapore's elite sprinters.

In comparison, Spalato recorded very similar sections, when proving ultra impressive at his last start in Singapore — Spalato averaged 10.81 second 200m sections for his last 800m.

While clearly not at Spalato's level yet, it emphasises the ability Jimmy Rea possesses and the scope he has for further improvement.

Since his maiden victory, Jimmy Rea has improved 11 pounds and continues to record time ahead of the bare form — he recorded a quicker overall time than the Kranji Stakes C event on Friday night.

Jimmy Rea will now face his biggest test to date, when contesting the inaugural Group 3 Singapore Prestige Classic on Sunday.

Stepping up to 1400m, Jimmy Rea appears well placed to take the next step, however there is a slight query on the quick back up — coming off a peak performance.

While obviously capable, just question how much his last start took out of him, given the high level of his performance.

Previously he had between 24-25 days between runs and now backs up 10 days later.

Star filly Kiwi Karma was back to near her best last start and while allotted three kilograms more than Jimmy Rea, she sets a solid standard and will take plenty of catching.

Jimmy Rea remains one of the more exciting prospects racing in Singapore and whether he does or doesn't win on Sunday, he is definitely worth sticking with in the future.

These Streets

The Cliff Brown trained These Streets was unable to salute in the seventh event, however his performance still held plenty of merit.

Although narrowly beaten by the Brian Dean trained Eagle Storm, These Streets returned a new career peak and appears set for a fruitful preparation.

A victor of four of his 13 starts, the son of Elusive City has only missed the money on two occasions, with his best form achieved over 1400m.

Returning with the big weight, These Streets hit the line strongly and should derive good benefit from the performance.

Tried in Group 2 company prior to a break, These Streets was unable to feature in the EW Barker Trophy, however it indicates the high opinion Brown has of his galloper.

Expected to only improve when tried over further, These Streets is definitely a galloper to follow.

Absolutely

The Cliff Brown trained Absolutely proceeded to steal the show on Sunday, when upstaging talented three-year-old Titanium in the Group 3 Three Rings Trophy.

Unseen since finishing third in the Philanthropy Stakes in November, the son of Coats Choice displayed sharp improvement, when coming from last to salute in the feature event.

Successful in bringing up his fourth victory from nine starts, Absolutely had displayed good ability early on, but clearly took the next step on Sunday.

Improving nine pounds on his previous best, Absolutely appears poised for a prosperous campaign and if able to keep improving, he remains under strong notice.
