Burbero was ridden patiently by Rory Hutchings and was eased to settle in last place in the eight-horse field. He switched between runners on passing the 300m, got to fourth at the 100m and then finished fast to score a good win, his second in Group Two class.

Weary went back from his outside barrier (8) and settled in seventh place, one off the rails. He switched across heels at the 300m, got to fifth at the 100m and continued to run on strongly for a very good first-up second.

Temple Of Boom had a good trip in third place on the rails, challenged at the 200m and fought on for third after having every chance.

Ten-yearold Zaratone went to the front as usual, but did not run along too quickly and then held on quite well for a sound (1.3 lengths) fourth in yet another honest effort.

Messene raced outside the leader (Zaratone) to the home turn and held on for (1.6 lengths) fifth at his first run since last September and should be improved by the outing.
