Aspect wins 2016 Maribyrnong Plate Group 3 $150,000 at Flemington (VIC) 2yo, 1000m.
The Tony McEvoy-trained colt Aspect was most impressive in winning here on debut. He was slow to move, settled back in ninth place, behind runners in the centre of the track. Kerrin McEvoy angled him into clear running at the 300m, he hit the front at the 50m and went on to score a very good win, appearing to do so with something in hand.
The Mick Price-trained colt Cao Cao settled in tenth place, got a split at the 200m, took a while to wind-up and then ran on well for a good second, on debut. He should be improved by the experience and also looks suited to further.
The Lindsay Park-trained colt Wait For No One, showed good pace and led at a comfortable tempo until reaching the 200m. He then fought back gamely for good third.
