Formality winning the Chairman's Stakes Picture: Racing and Sports

The Lindsay Park-trained and Coolmore-raced filly Formality is now unbeaten after two starts. A firm favourite in betting, she began brilliantly from barrier seven and went straight to the front. She then settled well, racing on the rails with the second favourite (Spoils) taking a narrow lead, racing on her outside. She lifted gamely on passing the 200m, got clear at the 100m and then went on to score impressively.

The Tony McEvoy-trained filly Time Awaits raced in fourth place on the rails, eased deeper on turning for home and kept running on well for second, putting up a good effort , although having no chance with the winner.

Spoils soon moved up to take a narrow lead (outside the eventual winner, Formality). She held that advantage until the 200m and then kept fighting on well for a good third after running a bold race.
