Jameka is now a three-time Group One winner after previously taking out the 2015 VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) and 2016 Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m). Ridden well by Hugh Bowman, she travelled well in second place, many lengths behind the free-running leader (Lasqueti Spirit) before improving well at the 600m. She then dashed to the front at the 300m before racing away to win most impressively.

The Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Humidor had a good trip, well back in fifth place, moved up nearing the home turn and went to a distant second at the 300m. He then fought on well to finish second, without looking likely to threaten the winner.

Exospheric raced back in fourth place, went to third at the home turn and kept fighting on in the heavy condition to hold that position.

Of the others, Who Shot Thebarman kept plugging on well from last in the eight-horse field to finish (9.1 lengths) fourth in a sound Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) trial while Tavago raced well below his recent form and was near the rear most of the way before finishing distant last.
