Oakbank Easter Monday Races Review

Trainer Tony McEvoy opened the second day of the Oakbank Easter Carnival on a positive note when the first starter My Bad took out the 1050 metre first race.

Steered by his number one stable rider Damien Thornton My Bad settled well back in the field before going on to win.

Hoop Damien Thornton brought up an early double when Spur On Gold took out the 3600 metre second race.

Being under the care of Murray Bridge based horseman Grant Young Spur On Gold gradually improved from last with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Champion cross-country rider Steven Pateman added another chapter to his impressive record over jumps when he guided Angelology to a win in the Classic Hurdle which was run over 3600 metres.

Prepared by Patrick Payne, Angelology settled at the rear of the field before making his winning run late in the event.

Cayman Nites brought up a hat-trick of wins from four starts when she took out the 1400 metre fourth race.

Having the services of apprentice Anna Jordsjo and being under the care of Michael Hickmott Cayman Nites settled well and maintained a forward position before going on to win.

Trainer Stuart Gower, who has assembled a useful team since his return to racing, added another winner to his tally when Sacred Seal won the 1400 metre fifth race.

Guided to victory by Jason Holder Secret Seal gradually improved after settling at the rear of the field to record a good win.

Seventeen years after winning the Great Eastern Steeplechase as a jockey Grant Young triumphed as the trainer of 2017 winner Spying On You.

Young combined with hoop Tom Ryan when Spying On You was seen jumping well and ran down Undergroundfighter in the last few strides of the 4950 metre event.

The promising mare Have Another Glass kept her winning record intact when she won her sixth race from nine starts in the 1400 metre seventh race.

Trained at Naracoorte by Sue Jaensch and ridden to victory by apprentice Emily Finnegan Have Another Glass showed her class when she won convincingly.

Mulder brought up a perfect hat-trick at start number three when he took out the 1050 metre eighth event.

Giving his trainer Michael Hickmott a double on the day the Shayne Cahill ridden Mulder came from a midfield position with a strong run in the straight.

Damien Thornton brought up his third win for the day when Knightoftherealm won the 1900 metre final event.

Giving Naracoorte Sue Jaensch a double on the day Knightofhterealm came from a better than midfield position with a strong run over the last 100 metres.
