Goodfella wins 2017 Brian Crowley Listed $150,000 at Randwick (NSW), 1200m.
The Bjorn Baker-trained colt Goodfella continued his good form, staging a strong effort in taking out this Listed race, his second win in three starts this preparation. He settled in fourth place, momentarily raced a bit keenly when the pace steadied at the 600m before improving (deep) the home turn. He took a moment to wind up in the sprint home, moved up to challenge at the 100m and then finished too well for a good win.
The Godolphin-raced Piracy raced outside the leader (his stablemate Malahat), got to the front at the 200m and fought gamely for a good second.
Andaz was last in the six-horse field to the home turn and came with a late run to take a good third while Malahat held on for (1.9 lengths) fourth after leading until halfway down the straight.
