Someday wins 2017 Magic Millions Bernborough Hcp Listed $300,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1600m.

The $31 chance Someday, who was having his third run this preparation, scored a surprise win. He settled in second last place in the 11-horse field, tracking a solid pace before Michael Walker steered him between runners nearing the home turn. He then switched deep at the 300m, dashed to the front at the 100m before going on to win well.

Ruettiger also raced back in the field, travelling in ninth place behind the quick tempo. He moved up well (wide) coming to the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then battled on nicely for second.

Hopfgarten raced in eighth place, one off the rails, was shuffled back nearing the home turn, switched into clear running at the 300m and then ran on well to take the minor placing.

The favourite Cabeza De Vaca was wide early on, briefly settled in fourth place but the attempted to find the lead but was trapped wide out on a strong pace before dropping out to finish last.
