Irukandji lay second at the crossing, led narrowly at the 300m and gave the winner a good fight to the 100m but had to settle for quite a nice second from Virtual Insanity who was among the last few at the 400m and when clear flew home well to grab third wide out. Absaroka faded to fourth after having every chance.

Severely checked mid race in the Magic Millions Classic (RL, 1200m) Nomothaj returned to the site of her debut win, the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (Listed, 1000m) here in October with a solid win. She began well and rider Mark Zahra sat her just off the pace past the crossing.
