Auvray wins 2018 Harrolds Sky High Stakes Group 3 $350,000 at Rosehill (NSW), 2000m.
Having his third run this preparation, French-bred stayer Auvray staged a good effort in taking out this Group Three race, his second Group success since coming to this country.
He travelled nicely back in seventh place, tracked up nicely behind runners from the 600m, switched out on straightening, dashed to the front at the 100m before going on to score comfortably. He looks set for a good preparation.
Libran raced in fourth place on the rails, got along the inner rounding the home turn, briefly hit the front nearing the 100m and then battled on quite well for second after appearing to have had every chance.
Mackintosh raced in last place in the nine-horse field, made a wide move at the home turn and kept running on well for third.
The Victorian-trained colt Salsamor raced in seventh place on the rails, got between runners at the 300m and ran on well in a resolute fashion for (1.9 lengths) fourth in a manner to suggest that he may have claims in the upcoming ATC Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m).
