Well-bred I Am Invincible colt wins over 1100 metres at Randwick.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Barbaric (I Am Invincible) scored an impressive length and three quarter victory at Randwick on Wednesday.
Having his second start the colt, who was ridden by Tim Clark, beat the Chris Waller-trained favourite Centimental (Snitzel) with Joviality (I Am Invincible) third and the winner is now likely to be aimed towards the Golden Slipper (Gr 1, 1200m).
"It was good to see him win like that as we've always believed he was one of our better colts," said co-trainer Peter Snowden.
"Little fish are sweet, but it's a starting point and hopefully we go on from here."
Bred by Segenhoe and Gerald Harvey Bloodstock, Barbaric was bought by China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and WinStar Farm for $900,000 from the draft of Segenhoe Stud at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
He is the sixth living foal and fifth winner out of Mimi Lebrock who recorded wins in the 2008 Tristarc Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) and also won the 2017 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m). She was bought for $1,025,000 at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale by Baramul Stud and last November was covered by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) having foaled a filly by Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) in October.
Barbaric's second dam is God Love It (St Covet) who also produced the Group 3 winning pair Heavenly Thought (So You Think) and Shoko (Sebring).
A brother to Widden Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) runner-up Centimental is catalogued as Lot 189 for the forthcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Torryburn Stud.
