Cuba wins the National Sprint at Canberra on Sunday.
The John Thompson-trained Cuba (5 g ex Tabasco Kitten by Redoute's Choice) became the 16th stakes winner for his Vinery Stud-based sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince) when he won Sunday's National Sprint (Listed, 1400m) at Canberra.
Ridden by Tim Clark, Cuba defeated Sir Bacchus (Sebring) by half a length with Ken's Dream (Dream Ahead) third.
A $250,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase by his trainer from the draft of Kitchwin Hills, Cuba is out of the winning Redoute's Choice (Danehill) mare Tabasco Kitten who has produced two other winners to date. His second dam is the Group 1 winner La Baraka (Euclase), dam of five winners including Alizes (Rory's Jester) who is herself the grandam of multiple Group 1 winner Alizee (Sepoy) and Golden Rose (Gr 1, 1400m) winner Astern (Medaglia d'Oro).
Cuba's third dam is multiple Group 1 winner Triscay (Marscay).
Tabasco Kitten was covered last season by Arrowfield shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) having produced a colt by Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) who died after birth. She had not produced a foal since 2016 when she produced I Am (Invincible Spirit).
All Too Hard's progeny are headed by his Group 1 winning son Alligator Blood and he has just one lot catalogued for the forthcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
