25 for Zoustar
The Peter Moody-trained Brereton (2 c ex Fuddle De Duddle by Red Ransom) provided Widden Stud’s Zoustar (Northern Meteor) with his 25th stakes winner when he beat Godolphin’s Renosu (Exceed And Excel) by a nose in Tuesday's Maribyrnong Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) at Flemington .

Brereton was bought for $1,000,000 by Victorian Alliance, Suman Hedge Bloodstock and David Redvers from the draft of Widden Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year and he becomes the first stakes winner out of Group Three winning mare Fuddle De Duddle (Red Ransom) who is herself a half-sister to Group Two scorer Hallowell Belle (Starcraft). Fuddle De Duddle was covered by Zoustar again in September having produced a filly by the son of Northern Meteor (Encosta De Lago).

Of Zoustar’s 25 stakes winners, seven of them have now won as juveniles; Sunlight, Zousain, Lean Mean Machine, Lightsaber and Glistening all winning at Group Two level at two.

67 for I Am Invincible
Quantico (5 g ex Hoss Amor by General Nediym) provided Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) with his 67th stakes winner when the John O’Shea-trained gelding won Tuesday’s MSS Security Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Flemington. Quantico was a $1,050,000 buy by his trainer, China Horse Club and Boomer Bloodstock at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when offered by Yarraman Park Stud.

I Am Invincible is currently sitting fifth in the leading sires table in Australia by earnings.

Puissance De Lune (Shamardal) notched up stakes winner number three on Tuesday when Spirit Of Gaylard (3 c ex White Dove by High Chaparral) won the TAB Trophy (Listed, 1800m). The Mitchell Freedman-trained colt defeated Blushing Tycoon (Written Tycoon) by a nose, with Maracana (Shamexpress) a close third. Spirit Of Gaylard was bought by his trainer and Phill Catalado Bloodstock for NZ$120,000 at Book 2 of New Zealand Bloodstock’s Karaka 2020 Sale when offered by Berkley Stud.

Puissance De Lune stands at Swettenham Stud where his fee this season is advertised at $18,000 + GST.

European-bred Cheval Prometteur (6 g ex Shibina by Kalanisi) handed Declaration Of War (War Front) his 38th stakes winner when he won the Balmerino (Gr 3, 2000m) at Te Rapa. Cheval Prommetteur was fourth in the Livamol Classic (Gr 1, 2040m) last start and on Tuesday he defeated Concert Hall (Savabeel) by a head.

Declaration Of War, who has sired seven Group / Grade One winners including Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Vow And Declare, relocated to Japan in 2019.

First for Safeguard
In winning the Burgess Queen Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Ascot, Buzzoom (3 f ex Xaar Boom by Xaar) became the first stakes winner for Safeguard. The Dan Morton-trained filly, a $80,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale purchase by his trainer, beat Sarchin’ Roc’s (Awesome Rock) by a length and three quarters.

Safeguard’s 2021 fee at Mogumber Stud is advertised at $4,400 (inc GST).
