Australia’s premier stallion to stand for $302,500

I Am Invincible is building a body of work that will have him remembered as one of Australia's great stallions and on Friday he was assigned a stud fee to match.

Yarraman Park will this year stand the son of Invincible Spirit for $302,500 (including GST), which is territory reserved for only the most revered stallions.

Redoute's Choice's peak number was $330,000, a fee he commanded in 2007/08, while Encosta De Lago's stood for $302,500 in 2008.

I Am Invincible is up from $247,500 last year but given he has had 21 stakes winner since, including In Secret and Imperatriz, combined with more sale ring dominance, Yarraman's Arthur Mitchell said it was a fair fee for the reigning Australian Champion Sire who is again leading that award this year.

"He's been a phenomenon at the sales once again, he's had 17 yearlings make $1 million or more, which is quote outstanding, and he's comfortably topped the averages at all three major sales," Mitchell said.

"So, I think his fee of $275,000 (before GST) is very fair and, to be honest, he's already fully booked."

I Am Invincible provided six of the eight yearlings who sold for at least $1.6m at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, including three of the four $2m-plus lots and the $2.7m sale-topper.

His colt out of English sold for $1.55m at Inglis Easter, while he also provided the only seven-figure lots of this year's Inglis Premier sale in Melbourne – a $1.1m filly out of Pins mare Special Lover.

All up, I Am Invincible has had 91 yearlings sell this year at an average of $682,307.

The rising 19-year-old is the headline act at Yarraman but his two barnmates have also received fee increases with his son Hellbent up to $38,500 from $22,000 with Brave Smash, who stood for $22,000 at Aquis last season, to command $33,000.
