Champion Japanese galloper retired to stud after brilliant Japan Cup win
Equinox, the horse who last Sunday caused jaws to drop in the Japan Cup, has run his last race.
It was announced late on Thursday afternoon that the four-year-old son of Kitasan Black had been retired to stand at Shaddai Stallion Station.
His fee will be set at a later date.
Equinox, who is out of the King Halo mare Chateau Blanche, affirmed his status as the world's best racehorse with a four-length romp in the Group 1 Japan Cup (2400m).
The Japan Cup was Equinox's sixth-straight win and stretched his career record to eight wins from 10 starts with the two defeats both second placings.
His other Group 1 wins came in the 2000m Tenno Sho at what was his second-last start, a race he also won last year, Takarazuka Kinen (2200m), Dubai Sheema Classic (2410m) and last year's Arima Kinen (2500m).
