King To Rule The Farm

3 minute read

Courtza King is expected to build upon a solid first up showing when contesting the Tab Rewards Benchmark 70 Handicap at Warwick Farm.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained entire resumed with a close third at Canterbury last start, beaten a long neck by the fast finishing Dupe ‘Em.

It was a strong performance by the Northern Meteor entire who produced the effort following an injury interrupted preparation.

Courtza King’s first up effort was suggestive of an entire back on track who can make his presence felt at the finish of Wednesday’s Tab Rewards Benchmark 70 Handicap (1300m).

His first up display returned a Timeform rating of 86 and that outing should provide the foundation for further improvement deeper into the four-year-old’s campaign.

The effort already has him rating highly amongst this line up and on the basis there is room for improvement, Courtza King looks hard to beat.

From barrier 15, Courtza King and Blake Shinn should settle somewhere off the pace.

Expect the pair to be prominent on straightening and from there, take some holding out.

Binary resumed well when fifth in the same race as Courtza King last start.

Beaten three-quarters of a length by Courtza King on that occasion, Binary now meets the early favourite a half kilogram better at the weights.

The son of Starcraft is another who is showing the potential of a gelding capable of working through the grades and can do so on Wednesday.

Kind Heart caught the eye late on resuming at Canterbury over 1200m against her own sex.

Watch for her rattling into calculations once again here.

A pair of resuming gallopers make up the key handful of chances in the Tab Rewards Benchmark 70 Handicap (1300m).

The first is the Chris Waller-trained Feast For Eyes.

The son of More Than Ready was a Canterbury maiden winner last campaign and has since been given a short break to further mature after a tilt at the Group 1 J.J Atkins Stakes won by stablemate Press Statement.

While perhaps better suited over a bit more ground, the colt has trialled well in readiness for this twice and stays under notice.

The John O’Shea-trained Gouldian is an interesting runner who has been the focus of early support for the event.

Gouldian is better known for his displays over a mile, the son of Street Cry has been gelded in his latest spell and has looked sharp in two trials so far this preparation.

The ultimate gear change Gouldian has undergone will result in a more complete version of the racehorse this campaign and moving forward.

The Tab Rewards Benchmark 70 Handicap (1300m) has the potential to be a strong form race moving forward.

It is the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Courtza King who can lead the way.
