The Ricardo Le Grange trained King Louis appears well placed to make a winning return when due to contest the sixth event at Kranji this evening.
Formerly based in Australia [Old Name: Medal Kun], King Louis has raced in great order since sold/transferred to Singapore, most notably finishing second in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas [1600m].
In seven starts King Louis is yet to miss the money, notching up two wins and five minor placings. He continued to raise the bar and was a real eye catcher in the Guineas when storming home only to be beaten a length behind Mr Clint.
He returned a new career peak on that occasion and is clearly a 4YO heading the right way.Off the scene for 76 days, King Louis has been given two trials in the lead up, most recently finishing fifth behind his stablemate Noah From Goa.
Given a good test up under Vorster he should be ready to fire and like the fact he kicks off over the mile. From the middle draw hoping he can settle a bit closer to the speed as he simply got too far back in the Guineas last start.
When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he holds a clear edge over his rivals and while likely to improve with the run, he still looks to have too much in the locker. His performance in the Guineas suggests he will be even better over further and he is certainly one to follow throughout this preparation.
The Lee Freedman trained Tesoro Privado really impressed on debut for his new stable last start and looms as the main danger.Tesoro Privado finished fourth behind King Louis in the Guineas and proceeded to take a good step forward last start when dominant over 1400m.
The fact he gives weight away to King Louis is a concern, however Freedman has offset that with apprentice rider Iskandar (4kg) aboard. From the awkward draw he is expected to press forward and should be in this for a long way.
Last start winner Magic City has to be respected as he should also appreciate the step up to the mile.A winner of four of his 14 starts, he measures up at the weights and has to be kept safe.
Of the rest the Lee Freedman trained Mr Dujardin appears the next in line.Only lightly raced he has displayed plenty of ability in five starts to this point and with Duric booked he shapes as one of the major players.
Good luck and happy punting.
