Powerful Tree put his stamp on the 1100m AWT races when he won the Open benchmark 97 on Friday night.

Coup Align had been up the front for much of the race but Powerful Tree was not to be denied and finished

3/4 length to the good. Dictator ran third. Debutante McClintock didn't seem quite there - either the way

of going or the surface or both seemed not to his liking - maybe better on turf.
