Ladyanne too good for the boys in Qatar

3 minute read

Ladyanne again proved to good for the boys (and a couple of girls) as she added the Qatar Derby to her earlier Guineas win.

Ladyanne had won on debut in the UK and was purchased last October for what now looks like a bargain

pricee. She was beaten by her stablemate Brittany in the Derby Trial, but trainer Al Ghazali says that the

extra distance of the Derby suited her perfectly.

The two fancied horses - Arrigo, the former German runner who was second to Campanologist in the

Italian Gran Premio Jockey Club G1 last year, and Recital, 6th in the Epsom Derby last year, were i a trio

of flying horses which included the winner and only a length separated the first four home.

On Wednesday Miss Starlight, trained by Ibrahim Al Malki and ridden by Darryl Holland, won the Qatar

Oaks.

Trips to Dubai may be on the agenda for most of these.
