This famous race is one of two G3s on Thursdays card and currently has 5 starters - currently because more rain is forecast.
The good news is that it could be a bit warmer. And that's about all the good news you can find.
As things stand, John Oxx's Call To Battle, who was second in the Ballysax recently, is on 5/2. David Livingston is on 11/4 and Mickdaam, who ran well at Newmarket after his return from Dubai, is on 3/1. There are two recently out of maiden class runners also stepping up in grade with this 2400m trip. It will be a question as to which horse handles the conditions best.
The Huxley Stakes (for The Tradesman's Cup) is over around 2000m for the 4y+ group. Nine are in the field but some of these aren't too keen on soft ground. Godolphin's Hunter's Light is on top at 11/4 but this is his first run this season so we would prefer to wait with him. If Questioning (Gosden-Buick) can handle the ground he should get this as the stable are in great form - he's 3/1. Marcret is 6/1 and Wigmore Hall is 7/1 and would be a decent go here if the ground were better but he hated the soft in France last outing.
