The G1 at Tokyo on Sunday provided a huge upset when Ten Happy Rose won at odds of 208.6.
Coming up the rise most of the horses were clustered on or near the rail but the astute jockey Tsumura-san chose to go wide where there was plenty of air and his mount, a 6yo mare, showed the rest how to do it. Fierce Pride emerged out of the pack to finish second and a very unlucky Masked Diva third – she was blocked for a run and when finally clear she finished very well but it was too late.
Namur, who had won this race last year, was very disappointing as she blew the start and then did not seem to want to be involved.
