Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 14.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caulfield Heath, Eagle Farm and Ascot.
RANDWICK: RACE 5 @ 2:50 PM
WITHIN THE LAW (6) nice filly who showed a good turn of foot on debut when a commanding 1.3 len winner over 1000m in restricted Listed grade at Flemington five weeks ago. Has since been kept up to the mark with a 900m trial at Canterbury. Further improvement in store and warrants favouritism. CANTIAMO (12) is a daughter of Too Darn Hot from Valencay on debut from the Kris Lees yard. Two trials have been full of promise and McEvoy rides from the good gate. Leading player. ARTISTIC VENTURE (8) is a filly by Trapeze Artist out of Secret Venture on debut for the O'Shea & Charlton stable. Looked good when a recent trial winner over 902m at Canterbury on December 3. Genuine top three contender. GOBI DESERT (7) unwanted in betting on debut when a gritty winner over 900m at Newcastle four weeks ago. This looks tougher and since kept up to the mark with a recent 800m trial placing. Place best from the draw.
SELECTIONS: Within The Law to win.

CAULFIELD HEATH: RACE 6 @ 3:05 PM
MIRAVAL ROSE (3) clearly on top here. She resumed in the Village Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield and was simply out-sprinted by two sharper mares, beaten 1.1 lengths into third. She's a classy mare who looks very well placed at the set weights and by the rise to 1200m. FREAK OF NATURE (1) has a habit of racing keenly which was evident last start at Moonee Valley when dropping out but his best is quite good and he has the ratings to be very competitive. MISS ALTAIR (8) is the filly on the up here, winning both starts this time in very impressively, in good time at Moonee Valley latest. She'll need to improve again but maps well and should measure up. HARRY GOT STYLES (2) is racing well although 1200m is a box he hasn't ticked. ALECTRONA (4) is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Miraval Rose.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 7 @ 4:52 PM
The $300,000 Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes. MOON SWEEPER (5) was a dominant Doomben winner at the latest effort and winning hoop Thornton sticks in the saddle. Drawn to get a gun run in transit from gate two and should be going very close again. APUNTAR (2) finished second behind Moon Sweeper last time out and has a handy record at this circuit with a win and a second from just two outings. Only needs some luck from the sticky draw to be playing a major role in the outcome. BLUEPINOT (7) shed the maiden tag at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. Top-three credentials. BEAU DAZZLER (1) got up to Group 1 level when last in work and will strip fitter third-up from the break. Include from the inside alley. SQUEEZEBOX (6) has turned the corner this preparation and may earn some minor money again.
SELECTIONS: Moon Sweeper to salute.
ASCOT: RACE 4 @ 3:28 PM
THE BOSS LADY (3) showed what she was capable of last start when running over the top to win by 0.4L in Listed company most recently. Back to a ratings race today, and she maps to get every possible chance once again. Just has to run up to her latest performance to be winning again. DEVOTED (1) was great from the back in the Carbine Club first-up and he is a two-time winner second-up previously. The wide draw is a niggle, though Gaerth's 2kg claim comes in handy and he can be storming home over the top late in the race. ROCKIN' RUPERT (2) looks ready to peak third-up into the campaign after a strong effort in the Winterbottom Stakes most recently. He's won 2/4 third-up and he maps to be much closer today from barrier 3. Accepted in the Gold Rush but this looks a much better race for him. HELL I AM (7) dipped second-up but he can tend to do that. Usually bounces back now and is not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Keen on The Boss Lady.
