Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 20.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Lismore, Nowra, Horsham, Echuca, Sunshine Coast and Kalgoorlie.
LISMORE: RACE 4 @ 3:15 PM
HIDDEN MELODY (6) progressive mare who returned with an unlucky second over 1000m at the Gold Coast on October 5. Goes equally as well second up and should prove too sharp for these. GOOMERI (2) is a promising five-year-old gelding from the Matt Dunn yard who will relish the 3kg claim. Went out hard with the 61kg when resuming for a tenacious second over 1106m at Grafton on September 23. Has won second up and brings strong figures here. KING'S GOLD (7) placed first up before drifting back and failing to get into the contest when last over the 1000m at Ballina on October 6. Can sneak into the minor money.
SELECTIONS: Hidden Melody to win.

NOWRA: RACE 6 @ 4:55 PM
SIOVY DANE (13) charged home late but just missed out when resuming from a spell last start over 900m at Newcastle. Has raced second-up on two occasions for a win and a minor placing. Perfectly placed in this company over the longer journey and is clearly the testing material. JUST ONE LOOK (16) caused a minor surprise when he just prevailed last time out over 1100m at Cootamundra. Boasts a strong record at today's trip so there should be further improvement to come at the third run of the campaign. NETTLES (8) did a fair job first-up at Kembla. Will appreciate an extra 200m today so don't leave her out of calculations.
SELECTIONS: Confident win bet on Siovy Dane.
HORSHAM: RACE 3 @ 2:45 PM
BLAZING GURU (8) presents third up having improved nicely at Warrnambool out to 1700m last start, beaten 2.3 lengths into third. Out to 2100m now suits nicely and she should take catching. BEATRICE CRANACH (7) has run third at her past two starts, not far away at Swan Hill last time out. Should roll forward and give a sight. OUR SWAN SONG (11) put in a better run at Echuca last start and has claims off that. SCORPION BAY (5) has been around the mark of late and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Blazing Guru to win.
ECHUCA: RACE 4 @ 2:25 PM
BORDER VISAGE (14) was around the mark here this trip and then raced forward at Coleraine beaten a whisker. Raced favourite in that and maps well. He can go one better. QUEEN OF TAYRONA (8) has been knocking on the door and finds easier. Has a handy gate and is a candidate to lead. She's good enough. BRASSI ROAD (2) is third-up and is a likely improver.
SELECTIONS: Going with Border Visage.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:15 PM
Tricky race to assess with a lot of these babies facing the starter for the first time. Of the raced brigade LUVA FLUTTA (1) was well in the market in town on debut and certainly wasn't disgraced finishing third beaten just over a length. Will have learned a lot from that day at the races and can improve enough to take this out. SON OF A LIE (2) was a further five lengths back in that same race but had a few things go against him in the run. Has race experience over the rest of the field and a better showing would not surprise. MISHANI VELOCITY (7) looked handy winning a recent Gold Coast trial and any market confidence must be noted. SECURE BELL (8) won a recent trial here and must be respected. TURBO TORQUE (4) next in line from the favourable draw.
SELECTIONS: Luva Flutta to win.
