Group 2 Tristarc Stakes, October 19 - Caulfield

3 minute read

Well-backed Sydney mare Red Tracer returned to winning form to claim the Tristarc.

Classy mare Red Tracer moved up three wide in the early stages before easing to enjoy a perfect trip in third spot. She switched out passing the 300m, took the lead at the 150m and then raced away to win easily by almost three lengths.

Koonoomoo raced in second place to the turn, went to the front at the 200m but found the winner too smart over the final stages holding on for a good second.

Ava’s Delight was well back in ninth place to the turn and made late ground to grab third nearing the post.

Steps In Time worked across from her wide barrier (13) to take the lead approaching the 1000m mark. She then ran along, establishing a clear advantage, which she held until being headed at the 300m. She then battled on quite well for four and quarter lengths fourth.

Fire Up Fifi ran on well from a distant eleventh at the turn for a good fifth while Peron was back in fifth place, one off the rails to the turn, but only battled on in the straight to finish seventh, beaten just under six lengths.
