The well-backed Into The Red grabbed a narrow win in the Gold Edition Plate at Doomben.

Promising colt Into The Red ($1.95 fav) was quickly away from his good barrier (3) then eased to race in third place before moving up three deep approaching the home turn.

He challenged at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m then battled on to score narrowly but quite impressively.

Choose A Saga was second most of the way to the turn. He challenged at the 200m and although he found the winner too strong, he fought on gamely for a good second, beaten a long head.

Gundy Spirit was last in the 13-horse field to the turn. He took a run between runners at the 200m and came with a strong, late run, making up a lot of ground to finish third. It was a smart effort.
