Spirits Dance continued her brilliant run of form to claim the Angus Armanasco at Caulfield.
Spirits Dance made it four in a row with another good win here.
She was smartly away and settled nicely outside the leader (Arikara) at an average tempo (first 800m 48.24). She took the lead shortly after straightening, dashed clear nearing the 200m and fought on to score well by a length and a quarter.
The favourite Marianne ($2.00) raced in fifth place, one off the rails. She moved up wide rounding the home turn, got to second at the 200m and kept running on gamely, for a sound second with the lack of a strong early pace proving not in her favour.
Metaphorical, a stablemate of the winner, travelled nicely in seventh place on the rails. She switched across heels shortly after turning for home and battled on quite well in the sprint home for a promising third. It was only her fourth start and she should be further improved.
Bound For Earth was eighth one off the rails. She moved out to make her run on straightening and kept battling on for fourth, beaten three and a half lengths while Diamond Glow came from last in the nine-horse field for a sound fifth beaten three and three quarter lengths.
