Mouro outlined his credentials as a serious autumn contender with a strong resuming win in the TAB Rewards Stakes.
The top weight Mouro scored a good first-up win.
He settled in a nice spot fifth on the rails from his inside barrier. Craig Williams eased him across heels on turning for home and he dashed up to take the lead passing the 200m. He then fought back, without looking in serious danger, to score by a long neck. It was a smart effort with a big margin back to the third horse.
The outsider Mourinho was back in eighth place to the turn. He went to the centre of the track at the 300m and came with a strong late run for second, putting up a good first-up run.
Fat Al was sixth one off the rails to the turn. He put in a run nearing the 300m and continued to battle on to take the minor placing, beaten three and a half lengths.
Our Hand Of Faith ($5.50) was seventh on the rails, got through to fifth at the 200m and fought on fairly well for fourth.
The favourite Strawberry Boy ($3.50) led, setting an average tempo (first 800m 48.60). He held the lead until the 200m but failed to find a lot from that point to finish seventh beaten four and three quarter lengths, at his first run since October.
