The in-form Akzar raced away to record to a most impressive win after coming from the tail of the field.

He was eased from his outside barrier (16) and remained in last place until progressing, wide with cover, from the 1400m. He was still midfield (wide with cover) passing the 600m, went to the extreme outside rounding the home turn, hit the lead (near the outside fence) at the 200m and raced away to win by six lengths, outclassing his opposition.

Westsouthwest was just past midfield, before improving (deep) between runners from the 600m. He got a split on straightening, went to second at the 200m and battled on hold that position to the post, albeit six lengths from the winner.

Shoreham was near last to the 800m. He then commenced a wide run and fanned very deep rounding the home turn, getting to a distant fourth at the 200m. He then kept plugging on to take third, putting up an honest effort in the conditions.
