Eloping 2014 Blackwoods Champagne Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Moonee Valley (VIC) 3yo Fillies, 1200m.

Speedy filly Eloping was only third in the early stages and was then ridden hard and she worked before crossing to the lead at the 800m. She settled briefly before being taken on approaching the home turn but she responded well, grabbed a break shortly before the final turn and went on to win by a length and a half.

Tahni Dancer settled near the tail of the ten-horse field. She was still back in eighth place and under riding at the 600m before fanning wide at the turn, she then ran on for a good second.

The favourite Tawteenwas quickly away, led in the early stages before easing to race in second place. She moved up outside the leader Eloping at the 600m and challenged strongly shortly afterward but that effort was short-lived and she tired in the latter stages to finish third, beaten two and a quarter lengths.

Silversands went back from her outside barrier (10) and settled at the tail of the field. She improved along the rails from the 600m, got through to fifth on straightening and then finished nicely to just miss third in a photo to finish (2.4 lengths)
