Terravista took his record to nine wins from 13 starts with a very impressive effort in beating this high quality field. He surprisingly settled well back in second last place in the 13-horse field but was travelling well. He improved nearing the 400m, looking for a run between horses, before getting a split at the 200m. He then challenged at the 100m and battled gamely to win by a long head, in a very smart performance.

The favourite Chautauqua was ridden quietly behind the pace as usual, travelling well behind a packed field in about tenth place, towards the rails. Dwayne Dunn angled him across heels and into clear running at the 300m, he challenged at the 100m and then fought on very well for second.

Lankan Rupee raced outside the leader Buffering, challenged him strongly at the 400m, got to the front at the 200m and fought on well for a good third.

Buffering began smartly and led the field until the 200m and then held on in his usual game fashion for (2.8lengths) fourth.

Moment Of Change was a handy fifth, between runners, was under pressure from the 200m but still held on well for a good (3 lengths) fifth.

Famous Seamus was past midfield, about tenth, got a split at the 150m and battled on well for a sound (3.4 lengths) sixth while Rebel Dane was last in the 13-horse field to the 400m and then ran on nicely, in the centre of the track, for (3.6 lengths) seventh, putting up a good effort.

Slade Power was slowly away but soon recovered to be fifth on the rails. However, he was under riding from the 400m and just battled from there to finish (5.5 lengths) 11th, racing below his brilliant UK form at his first Australian start.
