The Barrister wins 2015 Fernhill Hcp Listed $150,000 at Randwick (NSW) 2yo, 1600m.
Victorian-trained colt The Barrister went straight to the front and settled well, steading the pace (first 1000m 62.62). He went clear topping ‘the rise’ and was untroubled from that point, going on to win by just over two lengths, handling the Heavy8 conditions well.
Godolphin’s Chachapoyas was fourth on the rails, moved through on the inner to be second at the 300m and held that position to the post, without threatening the winner.
Reckless Russell was seventh on the rails, got a good run through on the inside to be fourth at the 300m and battled on nicely for third.
Muzyka was last in the nine-horse field and made ground for (5.9 lengths) fourth while the favourite Clash Of Clans raced outside the leader but dropped out from the home turn to finish a disappointing eighth, racing on an Heavy8 track for the first time.
