Dandino settled particularly well travelling in fourth place, one out and one back, tracking the favourite (Secret Number). He moved up strongly at the 400m, took the lead at the 200m (slightly crowding Secret Number in the process) and then went on to score decisively.

Godolphin’s Secret Number settled outside the leader (Bonfire), travelling at a steady tempo. He briefly took the lead at the 300 but was overtaken at the 200m (being cramped for room), then made ground closing stages to just grab second in a photo. He met some interference in the straight but connections elected not to protest with the trouble appearing insufficient to have affected the result.

Don Doremo was third on the rails to the home turn, got to second at the 200m and was only cut out of the position nearing the post for sound third in an improved performance.
