Spill The Beans wins 2016 Eskimo Prince Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Randwick (NSW) 3yo, 1200m.
Spill The Beans was an impressive first-up winner. He began well and shared the lead (racing on the outside of Voilier), going at a solid pace (first 600m 34.85). He went to the front on passing the 300m and then went on to score in very good style, looking set for a very good preparation.
Le Romain raced in sixth place, wide the cover, before improving well at the home turn. He challenged strongly on passing the 200m and then battled well for a good second, just finding the winner too good.
Counterattack was eighth on the rails, put in a run at the 300m (along the rails and probably in inferior going) and then held on quite well for a sound first-up third.
Shards made ground from last in the 11-horse field for (3.6 lengths) fourth while Wolf Cry was seventh between runners, to the home turn and made ground without threatening for (3.7 lengths) fifth.
Dual Group One winner Pride Of Dubai was fourth (wide with cover) to the home turn but faded in the straight, under his top weight (60.5kg) in the Soft6 conditions, to finish (8.7 lengths) tenth.
