Astern wins 2016 Widden Kindergarten Stakes Group 3 $200,000 at Randwick (NSW) 2yo, 1100m.

El Divino travelled nicely in third place, three wide. He improved on turning for home, challenged strongly at the 200m and then fought really gamely to dead-heat for first. It was an excellent effort at only his second race start and he looks a quality colt.

Geneteau went to the front and held the lead until passing the 200m and she then battled strongly for a really good third on what was a significant step up in class.

Alliterate was fifth on the rails, stuck to the inner on straightening and held on nicely for fourth.
