Destiny's Kiss was last (one out) passing the post with a round to go. Down the back with 1600m to run rider Joshua Parr was content to let the eight-year-old lob along at the rear, standing the leader ten lengths. There was no change at the 1200m or the 800m but at the 600m Parr got to work and the pair began their sustained run. They turned in widest but had a couple of lengths to make up passing the 300m, claimed the lead inside the 200m and outstayed them, coming away over the last 100m to score.

Iggi Pop was third starting the big bend, moved out to co-lead approaching the last corner and took a narrow lead inside the 400m. He ground away hard to the line to hold on to second.

Danjeu had four behind him at the 600m, pulled wide turning in, looked a winning chance at the 200m and stayed on to the post for hard-fought third.
