Quality Ron Quinton-trained mare Dixie Blossoms was a very smart first-up winner, taking her record to six wins with nine placing from 21 starts. She settled back at the tail of the nine-horse field, behind a solid pace (first 800m in 46.56).

She fanned deep and into clear running rounding the home turn, hit the front at the 100m and then went on to score comfortably.

Raiment settled in sixth place, improved (wide) from the 800m, got to the front approaching the 200m and then held on well for a good second in a promising second up effort.

The New Zealandtrained mare Francaletta was smartly away and soon crossed from barrier 9 to take the lead. She was challenged coming to the home turn and kept fighting on well to just hold third in a sound first up run at her first start in Australia.
