Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - March 23

3 minute read

Mr Dujardin looks a nice staying prospect following his win in the Class 4 Non Premier (2000m) at Kranji last Friday.

Having just his fourth career outings, the Lee Freedman-trained runner found himself back in the field from the inside draw with Micahel Rodd on board.

Mr Dujardin had no luck coming to the turn caught behind a wall of horses, finally finding some clean air at the 250m.

Making good ground over the final 200m, the three-year-old gelding was able to secure a very impressive two and a quarter length win over Rich Beauty in second with Yulong Honor a further length back in third.

Should Mr Dujardin, a son of High Chaparral had more luck in the run you would expect the winning margin to be a lot bigger and he certainly looks one to follow going forward.

Running to a Timeform figure of 74 his two runs prior, Mr Dujardin ran to a new career peak of 76p and he looks more to come as well.

Trainer Lee Freedman will now aim the three-year-old at the Group 1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) on May 26, the third leg of the Singapore Three-year-old Challenge.

Mr Dujardin looked one of the most impressive winners of the night and despite only winning a Class 4 the Singapore Guineas does not look beyond him at this point.

Despite running into one better on the night Zac Kasa looks another to watch going forward having shown good ability in his short career to date.

Coming off a nice first up win in a Restricted Maiden, the Cliff Brown-trained runner was very quick out of the gates in the Novice (1200m), going to a big lead for much of the race.

Running out of steam the over the final stages, Lord O’Reilly was able to wear down Zac Kasa over the concluding stages for a narrow win but I doubt Zac Kasa would have lost too many admirers.

Running to a new career peak Timeform figure of 80, the three-year-old gelding is certainly heading in the right direction and with a more measured approach in run certainly could have accounted for his rivals on Friday night.

Winner Lord O’Reilly was able to grab his second win in a row, also running to a new career peak rating of 82.
