Top Sydney trainer Peter Snowden is heading home to the Hunter Valley this weekend in a bid to repeat the success he enjoyed at last year's Scone Cup carnival.
Snowden started 10 horses at the Scone carnival last year and won three feature races over the two days – the Scone cup with Dysphonia, the Dark Jewel Quality with Shannara and the Horse Power Quality with Jerezana.
Snowden, who started his racing career at a jockey at Scone, is hoping he can get the same results this year with a team of 10 acceptors spread over the two days.
“We had so much fun last year that I wanted to take at least the same number of horses up this time," Snowden said.
“It was so enjoyable to get home and win races on my home track in front of my home crowd. There is nothing much better than that.”
Snowden is aiming to win the same feature races as last year. He has two acceptors in Friday's $180,000 Emirates Park Scone Cup (Raspberries/Divorces), Screen in Friday's $120,000 Yarraman Park Horsepower Quality and Shannara and Forfeiture in Saturday's $200,000 Coolmore Dark Jewel Classic.
Sindarin is Snowden's only other runner on the first day of the carnival on Friday in a Class 2 event.
His supporting team team on Saturday is made up of the maiden runner Komodo, Tunes and Whitlam in Benchmark 75 events and Skytrain in the $120,000 Prydes Quality (1100m).
Stable jockey Kerrin McEvoy is riding Raspberries, Screen and Sindarin on Friday but misses the second day at Scone as he will be riding Snowden's Stradbroke Handicap contender Mental at Doomben on Saturday. Christian Reith will ride Divorces in the Scone Cup
Snowden's runners at Scone on Saturday will be ridden by Hugh Bowman, Peter Robl, Steven Arnold and Josh Adams.
