* HURRICANE Henny became the seventh first crop winner by Henny Huhes when produced a tough effort to win over 1800m at Rosehill on Saturday.
His victory has lifted the mutliple G1-winner to equal second position by individual winners on the first-season sire table.
Bred by Wall Street Thoroughbreds, Hurricane Henny is out of the Sadler's Wells mare Al Montahaa.
Al Montahaa is a three-quarter sister to Anna Amalia, the dam of G1 winner Ave, and a half-sister to G3 winner Anna Palariva, the dam of the G3-winner Anna Salai.Related to triple G1 winnert Helmet, Hurricane Henny was a $50,000 yearling purchase for syndicators Darby Bloodstock.
Henny Hughes is the sire of seven winners from 16 runners in Australia including the stakes performer Lil Red Corvette.
He has sired six stakes winners in the northern hemisphere including G3 winners She Digs Me and Henny Hound and stakes winner My Due Process and Fort Hughes.
* IMPORTED filly Aeronwy gave her international sire Dylan Thomas a boost with bher win at Flemington on Saturday.
Aeronwy (Dylan Thomas x La Pepite, by Mr Prospector) is an Irish bred three year-old filly from the first Northern Hemisphere crop of foals by former champion galloper.
She beat older rivals over 2000 metres talking her record to three wins and two placings from five starts and may be a prospect for better races in the spring.
Aeronwy, foaled on April 8 in 2009, was purchased by Irish bloodstock agent Dermot Farrington for 85,000 guineas at the 2009 Tattersalls December Foal Sale and sent to Australia in May of 2010.
She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Soldera and is one of seven winners from the Mr Prospector mare La Pepite, a daughter of super producer Fanfreluche whose descendants include champion sires in Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur.
The oldest Australian bred progeny by Dylan Thomas are two year-olds this season, making Aeronwy a rarity in this country.
Already the sire of three stakes-winners worldwide, Dylan Thomas will again be shuttling to Coolmore Stud this spring at a fee of $13,750.
* BLUE-blooded gelding Eucumbene posted his fourth consecutive win at Rosehill on Saturday when he led throughout to win 1300m.
A $300,000 purchase for James Bester Bloodstock from the Tyreel Stud draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Eucumbene is trained by Guy Walter and runs in the Kia Ora Stud colours.
He has the overall record of five wins and four placings from 11 starts with prizemoney nearing $140,000.
Eucumbene (Encosta de Lago x Snowdrift, by Polish Precedent) is a half-brother to GI winner and sire Snowland, G2 winner Portillo and stakes-winning sire Snippetson as well as stakes-placed Freeze and Snowden.
His dam Snowdriftt has changed hands on a number of occasions after starting her stud career with Stratheden Stud.
She fetched $1.5 million when offered as part of the Vinery Dispersal in 2005 and then made $775,000 in 2010 when sold by Tyreel Stud at the Inglis Broodmare Sale where she was secured by Keiran Moore Bloodstock on behalf of Cressfield.
Snowdrift is due to foal to Fastnet Rock this spring.
