Here De Princess has kept her perfect record intact with an impressive win over short priced favourite Kuchinskaya in the Farley Racing Sprint (1000m) at Wyong's ATC meeting today.
With only four horses lining up in the race, Kuchinskaya was fast away from the inside barrier and went straight to the lead with Alley Miss on her outside and Here De Princess getting a good trial in third.
Rounding the turn, Here De Princess ridden by Corey Brown loomed up to the leading pair and in only a few strides went straight past them when Brown gave her a squeeze.
The Chris Waller-trained filly was too good in the straight and showed plenty of speed to run out a clear five length winner over Kuchinskaya in second and Alley Miss in third with Pure Hustle never in the race and tailing off for last.
Here De Princess came into the race on the back of a debut win at this course earlier in the month when running on from the back of the field after two barrier trial wins.
“Quite often when horses impresses first up you go home and have a look at them and say you were a bit better than I thought and I might have got you wrong but she hasn't, she has shown us nothing at all at home,” said Waller.
“I was that close to ringing the stewards this morning and saying I am only so so with this horse and I haven't been that happy with her work and then I saw she wasn't favourite so I won't get too worried about it,” he added.
“But sure enough at 500m mark you could see she was the horse to beat and won convincingly.”
Jockey Corey Brown said he was very happy with the way she won last start and knew what he had underneath him when rounding the turn.
“Her first go here she was a fraction slow away and she is a very timid horse and looks at things a lot,” Brown said.
“We were sort of expecting it her first go and she got a long way back and was off the bridle and she surprised me when I gave her a hit around the tale she lengthened really well.
“It was no surprise what she did today but she did surprise me how quick she went when I squeezed her.
“This track you have to be right there on the speed on straightening and the leaders didn't go all that slow but I knew I had plenty of horse underneath me and the way she hit the line first up I knew she would do the same so I hit the button a bit early and it was a very good win.”
