All The Talk, a son of 2005 Golden Slipper winner Stratum, had shown himself to be a good speed horse in four runs prior and was able to put to bed any queries about him going to 1200m by leading all the way to record the strong win.

The pressure early didn't seem overly strong with All The Talk getting to the front and appearing to find his rhythm without any great difficulty.

From there he was always going to prove hard to beat with those behind him noticeably under pressure to bridge the margin well before the turn.

The margin only widened as they straightened, however, with the well spruiked Dothraki briefly appearing as the danger but ultimately losing the battle for second to Queensland visitor Octane Flyer who worked home nicely up the inside.

The well tried Fuerza was next with Good Job Bro the disappointment, never really a factor back on to firmer ground.

The step up to 1200m was the query for most going in and the stable were clearly pleased to see All The Talk take that step up.

“He found plenty; he was strong right through the line,” said trainer Gary Portelli.

“He's a fast horse, he's run the time and he did it all himself and he'll go faster when we need him too hopefully.”

Portelli indicated that the Slipper was now firmly on the radar.

“They are first time owners a lot of these people, and they are in the Slipper, they are going to have some fun in a couple of week's time," he said

“I'm not saying he's a good thing but they'll know he's in there in the Slipper.”
