The Newcastle Cup has attracted a capacity field of 16 runners for the first time since Queenslander Bikkie Tin Blues won the race in 2006.
The field is headed by Ironstein who finished second at his most recent start in the Premier's Cup, and is a former winner of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Melbourne.
Peal Of Bells, Gazza Guru and Saint Encosta, who ran second, third and fourth in last year's Cup behind Glencadam Gold, have all returned.
In-form Sydney pair Lucripetous and Danas Best have also accepted.
